Knowledge Economy & E-Government is a Provincial Government of the Western Cape (PGWC) component providing vision, policy and strategy, leadership and operational direction to promote e-government, and ensure that the Province, its citizens and its businesses derive maximum benefit from the Knowledge Economy.

Cape Gateway is an initiative, which will provide easy access to government information and services. Cape Gateway will be accessed through a walk-in centre, a call centre and a portal.

Cape Gateway Development is the project which creates the tools required by Cape Gateway Operations to fulfil Cape Gateway's objective.

Salary level: All inclusive package of R285 698 per annum. (Six-months contract appointment with possible extension to one year.)

Duties:

Lead the Design & Usability Project.
Lead the overall Cape Gateway Development Project.
Design specifications for, and manage the development of, user interfaces, functional designs, user requirements and information architecture.
Ensure quality and usability of products.
Drive awareness of usability and contribute usability expertise in all areas of the overall project, and in e-government.
Contribute to business process development, procedures and templates with special attention to user interfaces.
Ensure the appropriate development of corporate identities and visual standards for products/projects.

Requirements:

Degree/National Diploma in a usability related field (Graphic Design, Computer Programming, Systems Engineering, Document Design & Technical Communication, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology & Ethnography, etc.).
Appropriate experience in applying usability principles in designs.
Appropriate experience in web/multimedia design/development.
Leadership and management experience.
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
Strategic thinking and planning skills.
Well developed analytical skills.
Creative talent.

The following will serve as recommendations:

In-depth knowledge of contemporary and electronic design.
Work experience in Art Direction, Graphic Design, Web/Multimedia Development, Corporate Identity Development, management and communications.
Ability to identify and attract the skills required to create new world-class products.
Ability to act as a change agent.
Business process experience.

Kennis Ekonomie & E-Regering is ' n komponent van die Provinsiale Regering van die Wes-Kaap (PRWK) wat visie, beleid en strategie, leierskap en operasionele rigting verskaf om e-regering te bevorder, en verseker dat die Provinsie, sy inwoners en besighede die maksimum voordeel geniet uit die Kennis Ekonomie.

Cape Gateway is 'n inisiatief wat maklike toegang tot staatsinligting en -dienste sal bied. Gateway sal bereikbaar wees deur 'n inloop-sentrum, inbel-sentrum en 'n portaal.

Cape Gateway Ontwikkeling is die projek wat hulpmiddels skep vir Cape Gateway kanale om in hul doelwit te gebruik.

Dryf bewustheid van bruikbaarheid en dra by tot bruikbaarheidskennis op alle vlakke van die oorhoofse projek, en in e-regering.
Dra by tot die ontwikkeling van besigheidsprosesse, -prosedures en profielvorms met spesiale aandag aan gebruikerskoppelings.
Verseker die toepaslike ontwikkeling van korporatiewe identiteite en visuele standaarde vir produkte/projekte.

Vereistes:

Graad/Nasionale Diploma in 'n bruikbaarheid-verwante veld (Grafiese Ontwerp, Rekenaarprogrammering, Stelselingenieurswese, Dokumentontwerp & Tegniese Kommunikasie, Kognitiewe Sielkunde, Antropologie & Etnografie, ens.)
Toepaslike ondervinding in die toepassing van bruikbaarheidsbeginsels in ontwerp.
Toepaslike ondervinding in web/multimedia ontwerp/ontwikkeling.
Leierskap en bestuursondervinding.
Bogemiddelde mondelingse en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede.
Strategiese denke en beplanningsvaardighede.
Goed ontwikkelde analitiese vermoëns.
Kreatiewe talent.

Die volgende sal as aanbevelings dien:

In-diepte kennis van kontemporêre en elektroniese ontwerp.
Werkservaring in Kunsdireksie, Grafiese Ontwerp, Web/Multimedia Ontwikkeling, Korporatiewe Identiteit Ontwikkeling, bestuur en kommunikasie.
Vermoë om die vaardighede wat nodig is om nuwe wêrelklas produkte te skep, te identifiseer en te lok.
